Building on Quadsat’s inclusion in NATO’s Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) program in 2023, this campaign showcased the company’s ability to perform military-standard testing. Held in Den Haag, the campaign included essential measurements such as wide-angle Azimuth antenna pattern assessments, elevation and 3D pattern analyses, and G/T measurements, ensuring alignment with WGS requirements.
Quadsat's innovative system integrates a UAV with a customized RF payload, enabling precise and adaptable antenna validation. Coupled with bespoke software, the system generates standardized reporting across various measurements, streamlining military-standard antenna testing. DIANA, NATO’s accelerator program, supports innovation to address defense challenges, directly collaborating with companies like Quadsat to test and refine their solutions.
A NATO SATCOM representative noted, “Ensuring satellite antennas meet stringent military requirements is absolutely vital to keeping our communication lines clean and free from errors. However, performing these tests can be challenging, time-consuming, and costly. This campaign has proven the feasibility to carry out challenging complex antenna’s international MILSATCOM standards measurements in-situ and in a short timeframe.”
Joakim Espeland, CEO of Quadsat, expressed his satisfaction with the campaign, stating, “This measurement campaign with NATO NCIA was extremely successful, showing our ability to confirm WGS compliance. I hope this will lead to our system being validated for use as a means of WGS certification. Thanks to our recently established and growing service partner network, the military will be able to perform these measurements and approvals much faster and more cost-efficiently than is possible today.”
