Patria has been actively engaging with the Middle Eastern market, underscoring its role as a key player in the region’s defense landscape. The company’s participation in IDEX 2025 follows its earlier presence at DIMDEX 2024 in Qatar, where it introduced its latest technologies and reinforced partnerships.
During DIMDEX 2024, Kimmo Jämsén, Director of Underwater Systems and Communication Products at Patria, spoke with Defensehere.com about the company’s SONAC ACS system, a next-generation acoustic mine sweeping solution designed for modern naval operations.
Patria SONAC ACS: Advanced Acoustic Mine SweepingPatria SONAC ACS is an innovative acoustic mine sweeping system designed to counter influence mines using advanced acoustic triggering mechanisms. Engineered for unmanned platforms, its compact and lightweight design minimizes drag while allowing for flexible deployment. The system can be integrated into an external frame or used with a float, enhancing operational efficiency.
With the capability to generate high sound pressure over a broad frequency spectrum—from infrasonic to ultrasonic— SONAC ACS effectively simulates a variety of naval vessels. This makes it particularly well-suited for target simulation mode (TSM), where it can transmit any acoustic waveform signals.
The real-time operational capability of Patria SONAC ACS ensures ease of use. Operators can select preloaded acoustic signals from a signature library or design custom signals as needed. Its user-friendly interface allows seamless control, configuration, and monitoring, ensuring optimal performance in mine countermeasure missions.
