Oshkosh Defense has received $167 million in new orders from the U.S. Army for 225 heavy trucks and 54 trailers under the Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV) program, the company confirmed on July 2.

The order includes HEMTT A4 trucks and Palletized Load System (PLS) A2 vehicles, which are designed to be autonomous-capable and support the Army’s evolving modernization efforts. The platforms will be delivered to various Army components, including the National Guard, Army Reserve, and the Program Executive Office Missiles & Space (PEO MS), which is managing the development of the Indirect Fire Protection Capability (IFPC) system.

According to the company, some of the vehicles will be integrated into advanced air defense programs aimed at countering threats such as cruise missiles, hypersonic weapons, and ballistic projectiles.

Oshkosh Defense noted that the contract extension reflects the adaptability of its FHTV fleet for multiple mission types across the Army and its reserve elements. The PLS A2, in particular, has been identified by the Army for potential integration with future autonomous logistics and sensor packages.
