Malaysia’s King visits SAMI facilities in Riyadh

Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) welcomed Malaysia’s King Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar and his delegation during an official visit to the Kingdom on 5 November. The visit included a tour of SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries, the company’s subsidiary specializing in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO).

The delegation was accompanied by Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al Khateeb. SAMI Chief Executive Officer Eng. Thamer AlMuhid and senior company officials welcomed the Malaysian delegation upon arrival in Riyadh.

During the tour, King Sultan Ibrahim was briefed on SAMI Alsalam’s capabilities in aircraft MRO and ongoing efforts to support the localization of aerospace manufacturing in line with Saudi Vision 2030. The discussions highlighted SAMI’s role in strengthening the Kingdom’s defense industrial base and contributing to its position in the global aerospace sector.

According to SAMI, the visit reflects a shared interest in exploring future cooperation opportunities between Saudi Arabia and Malaysia in defense and aviation fields.

The Malaysian delegation included senior members of the royal household as well as Minister of Defense Mohamad Khaled Nordin, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Imran Mohammed Zain, and Malaysia’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohamad Bakri Sayed Abdulrahman.
