Leonardo has announced the planned acquisition of Axiomatics AB, a Swedish firm specializing in dynamic access control for Zero Trust cybersecurity architectures. The move is intended to enhance Leonardo’s capabilities in data security and identity management, particularly within the framework of its Global Cybersecurity Platform.
Based in Stockholm and operating also in North America, Axiomatics is currently the only European provider offering a full authorization solution built on the ABAC (Attribute-Based Access Control) model. This approach enables detailed and adaptable access control, targeting sectors with high security demands such as defense, government, and infrastructure.
The transaction marks Leonardo’s third strategic acquisition or partnership in the cybersecurity sector within recent months. It follows agreements with Danish firm Arbit, focused on secure multi-domain data transfer, and the purchase of a minority stake in SSH Communications Security in Finland. Leonardo also recently invested in Swedish startup CanaryBit, which works on confidential computing and AI-related security.
The acquisition of Axiomatics is subject to regulatory approvals, including foreign direct investment clearance by Swedish authorities due to the company’s relevance in defense-related technologies. Leonardo was advised by PwC throughout the process.
The deal aligns with Leonardo’s broader industrial strategy, which includes reinforcing its cybersecurity portfolio and expanding its presence in northern Europe’s digital security ecosystem.
