Kalashnikov Group has shipped a large consignment of 7.62 mm SV-98 sniper rifles to a customer under a 2025 state contract, the company said. The delivery, which the company says is widely used in the zone of the special military operation, was completed on schedule.

The SV-98 is designed for precision fire using 7N1 and 7N14 sniper cartridges. Its free floating barrel contributes to tighter shot groups, and the rifle can chamber the full range of 7.62×54R ammunition. The weapon accepts a low-noise and flashless firing device and supports mounting of optical and night sights on a Picatinny rail fixed to the receiver. Mechanical backup sights are also fitted.

Ergonomic features include a stock made from an aluminum alloy, a pistol grip of impact resistant polymer, and an adjustable cheekpiece along with adjustable rear support and buttstock settings, intended to accommodate different shooter positions and gear configurations.
