In an interview with Defensehere.com François Raubenheimer, Business Development & Marketing Executive at Saab Grintek Defence, presented their newest ESM equipment at Euronaval.
He said that they are present at Euronaval with a new generation radar ESM equipment. He also mentioned that it is a fully digital receiver system which provides higher sensitivity and more accuracy as well as better capability to reduce other signals that might interfere with the receiver process.
He underlined the fact that it is in the final stages of development progress but is ready for marketing towards new programs such as new shipbuilding or submarine projects.
He also said that they have three options: U/SME 450, U/SME 420 and U/SME 410.
He said the following regarding U/SME 4050:
“The (U/SME) 450 being the top of the range, (it) provides you with a very wide frequency band that you can allocate for various functions, being detection or acquisition and as well as for DF channels that you can very quickly create a situation awareness picture (with).”
According to the feedback they received from the current operators, he said that they made the human interface very useful where the operators’ input is being applied.
