French navigation systems manufacturer Exail has signed a new contract to supply 100 Phins Compact Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) for integration into unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) operated by a U.S.-based defense company.

The systems will support underwater missions by providing positioning capabilities in environments where GPS and other external signals may be unavailable or unreliable. Designed for compact platforms, the Phins Compact INS enables flexible deployment in a variety of maritime operations.

Exail's Sales Director Carlos Lopes said the company has worked closely with defense clients to adapt its systems to operational needs. “We believe our INS provides the accuracy and resilience necessary for demanding subsea missions,” he noted.

The deal marks a further step in Exail’s growing footprint in the U.S. defense market. The company’s inertial navigation technology is currently used by over 50 navies worldwide and is installed on a wide range of autonomous underwater platforms.
