Saab has launched the ORP Henryk Zygalski, the second of two signal intelligence (SIGINT) vessels being built for the Polish Navy under the country’s DELFIN program. The launch ceremony took place on 14 January, at Remontowa Shipbuilding in Gdańsk, with the participation of senior officials from Poland’s Ministry of National Defence, Armaments Agency, Navy, and intelligence directorate.
This milestone follows the launch of the first ship ORP Jerzy Różycki on 1 July 2025. ORP Henryk Zygalski will now enter the next phase of development, which includes the installation of reconnaissance systems and sea trials before its eventual entry into service.
The ship is named after Henryk Zygalski, a renowned Polish cryptologist who, along with Marian Rejewski and Jerzy Różycki, played a key role in breaking the German Enigma code before World War II.

The DELFIN program aims to enhance Poland’s maritime intelligence-gathering capabilities. Saab serves as the main contractor, while Remontowa Shipbuilding is responsible for hull construction. Polish company MMC contributed to the ship’s design, and Saab is managing the delivery and integration of the onboard mission systems. Additional support is being provided by other entities within the Polish defense sector.
Once fully equipped, the vessel will support intelligence collection operations across the full spectrum of maritime electronic signals.
