The UK on Monday said four Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoon jets were deployed to Poland to conduct joint exercises with aircraft from Spain, Poland, and Italy.
“The deployment will provide an opportunity for RAF pilots to practice dogfighting against different types of aircraft, and develop tactics to exploit their weaknesses,” the UK Ministry of Defence said in a statement on Sunday.
The Typhoons will remain in Poland for two weeks and “practice engaging targets beyond visual range, simulating various possible combat scenarios,” the statement said.
The activity came ahead of UK ministers attending the Warsaw Security Forum on Oct. 3-4, with the participation of Defense Minister James Heappey and Foreign Office ministers Anne-Marie Trevelyan and Lord Ahmad.
On Wednesday, Heappey will visit RAF personnel deployed with the Typhoons, as well as troops deployed in eastern Poland who operate the Sky Sabre surface-to-air missile system.
Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak confirmed the arrival of Typhoon jets on X.
