EDGE and MEXT partner to drive innovation and capability development

EDGE Group and MEXT have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance workforce development, digital transformation, and innovation across the UAE, Türkiye, and the broader GCC region. The agreement strengthens both organisations' commitment to advancing technological progress, industry capability, and cross-border cooperation, fostering new opportunities for growth.

EDGE Group’s Learning and Innovation Factory (LIF), a hub for advanced upskilling and technology-driven solutions in the defence and industrial sectors, will collaborate with MEXT, one of the world’s most comprehensive centres for digital and green transformation. The MoU was signed by Omar Al Zaabi, Chairman of MALATH and President of Trading and Mission Support Cluster at EDGE, and Efe Erdem, General Manager of MEXT. The signing ceremony, held at the MEXT Technology Center in Istanbul, was attended by UAE Consul General H.E. Saeed Abdulwahid Khamis R Saqer AlMheiri and a delegation from the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT).

Under the agreement, LIF will serve as MEXT’s exclusive partner in Learning and Development, co-designing upskilling programs tailored to industry needs. MEXT will utilise LIF’s state-of-the-art facilities for aptitude-building initiatives, while LIF will leverage MEXT’s Technology Center as a gateway to the Turkish market. The partnership also extends to digital and green transformation projects, with LIF prioritising MEXT as its preferred technical consultancy provider. MEXT, in turn, will consider LIF as a primary partner for projects involving governmental and semi-governmental entities in the UAE. Additionally, MEXT will grant LIF the first right of implementation for any new use cases introduced to the UAE market.

Omar Al Zaabi highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration, stating, "Part of EDGE’s overall strategy is to drive innovation and establish collaborations in our key sectors of focus. This partnership enhances the impetus for LIF and MEXT to support individuals and organisations in achieving digital transformation and proficiency development, contributing to the UAE's vision of becoming a hub for Industry 4.0."

Efe Erdem echoed this sentiment, saying, "This collaboration with EDGE is a significant step forward in our mission to drive digital and green transformation in the region. By joining forces, we aim to empower industries in Türkiye and the UAE with cutting-edge knowledge and skills, ultimately fostering sustainable development and innovation across multiple sectors."

The agreement marks a milestone in enhancing cross-border cooperation, strengthening industrial capabilities, and accelerating technological advancement between the UAE and Türkiye.
