EDGE Group announced it is finalizing an agreement with Angola’s Ministry of Interior for a nationwide border security program to be implemented by its subsidiary BEACON RED.

The Letter of Intent was signed by Omar Al Zaabi, President of EDGE Commercial, during the official visit of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Angola, marking a new phase in defense and security collaboration between the two countries.

EDGE Managing Director and CEO Hamad Al Marar said the initiative reflects the company’s strategy to expand the export of UAE-developed defense and security solutions. “Angola stands out as a forward-thinking nation with a clear vision for modernizing its national security architecture, which makes it an ideal partner in shaping the future of border control,” Al Marar noted.

The multi-year program, led by BEACON RED, will deliver advanced command and control systems, mission-specific training, and technologies designed to improve situational awareness, operational readiness, and rapid response at key border locations.

EDGE’s border security architecture integrates AI-enabled analytics, surveillance drones, secure communications, and big data management with traditional defense systems and layered physical security. Each solution will be tailored to local conditions and operational requirements, ensuring modular, interoperable systems across diverse environments.

This agreement follows a €1 billion deal under which Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), another EDGE subsidiary, is constructing BR71 MKII corvettes for the Angolan Navy, further strengthening the growing UAE–Angola defense partnership.
