Denmark has officially joined the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme, becoming the fifth nation to participate. The Technical Arrangement was signed, and Denmark plans to move forward with the next phases of the project. The CAVS programme, which focuses on developing a next-generation armoured vehicle system, was initially launched in 2019 by Finland and Latvia, with Sweden and Germany joining later.

Patria, the lead developer of the 6x6 armoured vehicle within the programme, has been delivering advanced troop transport solutions for over four decades. The programme promotes multinational collaboration, leveraging local industry capabilities from each member nation, thereby enhancing the security of supply for the entire network. To date, Patria has received orders for over 850 6x6 vehicles, with more than 200 delivered.

The CAVS programme is designed to foster interoperability and strengthen European defence capabilities through joint procurement. The modular design of the Patria 6x6 allows for various operational roles, including troop transport, medical evacuation, and reconnaissance.

The programme remains open to additional European countries that meet the operational requirements and gain approval from current participants. It is supported by the EU's European Defence Industry Reinforcement through the Common Procurement Act (EDIRPA).
