During the test, the system demonstrated its ability to neutralize live infrared-guided missiles equipped with warheads by directing a multi-band laser energy at the missiles' seekers, marking a major technological milestone for Türkiye’s indigenous defense industry.
With the successful testing of the YILDIRIM-100 system, Turkey has reached a new level in laser-based countermeasure capabilities, a field that only a few countries around the world have mastered.
Designed to operate effectively in modern air combat environments, the YILDIRIM-100 features a dual-turret architecture, integrated control unit, and advanced sensors. The YILDIRIM-100 system was developed to protect air platforms from infrared threats. The system is capable of simultaneously detecting, tracking, and neutralizing multiple threats, utilizing its multi-band laser technology to confuse and blind heat-seeking missiles, providing effective protection for air platforms.
Ahmet Akyol, President and CEO of ASELSAN, emphasized the strategic importance of this achievement: “With the successful test of YILDIRIM 100, we take great pride in advancing our country’s air defense capabilities to the level of the world’s leading nations. As we celebrate ASELSAN’s 50th anniversary, this achievement reflects the strength of our indigenous technological excellence and our unwavering commitment to innovation. We will continue to develop game-changing systems that meet the evolving requirements of the modern battlefield.”
