French defense manufacturer Arquus will deliver 50 Bastion armored vehicles to Ukraine, according to the latest report from the John Cockerill Group, of which Arquus is a member. The vehicles are part of a 61-unit agreement, expanding Ukraine’s fleet of armored platforms.
The delivery comes after Kyiv previously received 11 Bastion vehicles configured for troop transport, as well as VAB armored vehicles that were retired from French service. Neither the cost of the order nor the delivery schedule has been made public.
The Bastion is a 4×4 armored personnel carrier based on the VLRA chassis and designed for use across diverse terrain. It accommodates a crew of two plus eight troops and can be configured for multiple roles, including transport, command, ambulance, and reconnaissance.
The platform provides STANAG 4569 ballistic and mine blast protection and has a gross weight of 12.5 tons. It can be transported by C-130 Hercules aircraft, reaches a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour, and has a maximum range of 1,000 kilometers. The vehicle can be fitted with 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine guns, mounted on a ring or remote weapon station.
