Türkiye and Qatar signed a “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Defense Industry” during the 11th meeting of the High Strategic Committee, held in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The agreement was signed by head of Türkiye’s Defense Industry Secretariat (SSB) Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün and Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani.
In a statement, Görgün said:
“As part of President Erdoğan’s official visit, we signed a memorandum of understanding with Barzan Holding, which is affiliated with Qatar’s Ministry of Defense. The agreement, attended by Barzan CEO Mohammed bin Bader Al Sadah, envisions cooperation in various areas including research and development, joint production, technology transfer, and system integration. This memorandum lays the groundwork for long-term strategic collaboration and greater integration of Türkiye’s engineering-driven, high-technology defense solutions with those of friendly and allied nations.”
The memorandum marks a new step in defense industry collaboration between Türkiye and Qatar, aiming to strengthen industrial partnerships, foster innovation, and promote knowledge sharing between the two countries’ defense sectors.
