Wizz Air has received its first A321XLR aircraft, marking the beginning of deliveries from an order for 47 of the type. The delivery took place at Airbus’s facility in Hamburg on May 20, 2025.

The Hungarian airline becomes the first worldwide to operate the A321XLR variant equipped with Pratt & Whitney GTF engines and the first low-cost carrier in Europe to add the type to its fleet.

Configured in a single-class layout with 239 seats, Wizz Air’s A321XLR features the Airspace cabin, which includes adjustable lighting designed to suit various phases of the flight, such as boarding, dining, or rest.

With the introduction of the A321XLR, Wizz Air aims to expand its operational reach, particularly in connecting destinations across Europe and the Middle East. The airline currently operates an all-Airbus fleet of more than 230 A320 Family aircraft, with nearly 300 additional aircraft on order.

The A321XLR represents the extended-range version of the A320neo Family and is designed to meet demand for longer routes with greater fuel efficiency. The aircraft offers a maximum range of up to 4,700 nautical miles and is expected to provide fuel savings of approximately 30% per seat compared to older models, along with lower noise and emissions levels.
