Aleksandar Lijakovic of Yugoimport spoke to Defensehere.com at PARTNER 2025 Defense exhibition, which took place in Belgrade, Serbia.
Yugoimport is a state-owned public enterprise with a celebrated history in the trade of armaments, defense equipment and transfer of technology. It has defined Integration of the Serbian Defense Industry Companies production in the world defense market as one of its primary goals.
In line with this mission, the company has "accepted delegations from Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia and Far East" according to Mr. Lijakovic. These delegations were introduced to products ranging from "complex weapons systems, artillery systems, rocket systems, missile systems" all made in accordance with NATO standards.
The company also found itself a niche in aerospace industry, "producing training aircraft, and producing basic trainer and developing advanced training with turbo propulsion". However, "the most important product and maybe the most common product in the market is the 155mm/52 caliber 8x8 NORA family of weapons" Lijakovic adds. According to him, this family of weapons is what makes Yugoimport a global player.
