U.S. approves $225M missile sale to Türkiye

The U.S. State Department has approved a potential Foreign Military Sale to Türkiye for AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and related equipment, valued at approximately 225 million USD.

The request includes 53 AIM-120C-8 missiles, 6 guidance sections, and associated containers, support tools, spare parts, classified software, documentation, and logistics services.

According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the sale will support U.S. foreign policy and national security by strengthening a NATO ally and promoting stability in Europe.

The system will improve Türkiye’s air defense and protect both its territory and U.S. personnel stationed there. The transaction is not expected to impact the regional military balance.

RTX Corporation (formerly Raytheon) will be the principal contractor. No offset deals have been confirmed. The sale does not require deploying additional U.S. personnel and will not affect U.S. defense readiness.
