Saab has appointed a former astronaut Marcus Wandt as Senior Vice President and Head of the newly established Group Strategy and Technology division. The change will take effect on November 1, 2025.
The new group function is designed to enhance Saab’s strategic capabilities by overseeing corporate strategy, technology development, mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and ventures.
Marcus Wandt currently serves as Saab’s Chief Innovation Officer. A former Swedish Air Force fighter pilot, he also held the position of Chief Test Pilot at Saab. In 2024, Wandt participated in the European Space Agency’s mission to the International Space Station.
“Technology research and partnerships are strategic priorities for Saab to ensure we stay at the forefront of innovation as technological development continues at a very high pace,” said Saab President and CEO Micael Johansson. “Marcus has an exceptional track record in terms of his technology and innovation expertise while he is also a strong and visionary leader.”
