Türkiye’s state-owned missile manufacturer Roketsan introduced six new weapon systems on the opening day of IDEF 2025, including the Tayfun Block-4, the country’s first hypersonic missile. The international defense fair is currently taking place in Istanbul.
The Tayfun Block-4 is a hypersonic iteration of the previously unveiled Tayfun ballistic missile, which remains the longest-range domestically developed missile in Türkiye’s inventory. The new version weighs over seven tons and is designed to strike strategic targets—such as air defense sites, command infrastructure, hangars, and other military assets—from extended ranges.
Among the other systems revealed was a submarine-launched variant of the Atmaca anti-ship missile, equipped with a new capsule called Akata. This configuration is intended to be deployed from submerged platforms and retains the original missile’s range of over 250 kilometers.
Roketsan also introduced the Gökbora, a beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile with an operational reach exceeding 100 nautical miles. It is being developed for deployment from both manned and unmanned aircraft.
Another addition to the company’s portfolio is the Eren loitering munition, which can be deployed from a wide range of platforms including UAVs, helicopters, naval vessels, and ground systems. It is designed for missions against slow-moving aerial targets, armored vehicles, and personnel, with an operational range over 100 kilometers.
The company also revealed the 300 ER air-launched ballistic missile, which can be mounted on fighter jets and armed UAVs. Its range exceeds 500 kilometers, depending on the launch altitude and velocity, and it is designed for stand-off strikes against strategic targets without exposing the launch platform to enemy air defenses.
Rounding out the new systems was the Simsek-2, a satellite launch vehicle designed to carry payloads of up to 1,500 kilograms into sun-synchronous orbit at altitudes above 700 kilometers. Roketsan stated that a separate satellite launcher, Simsek-1, is expected to undergo its first test launch in 2027.
IDEF 2025 is Türkiye’s flagship defense exhibition and is being held this week across multiple venues in Istanbul, including the Istanbul Fair Center and Atatürk Airport. The event is organized by KFA Fairs and supported by Türkiye’s Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) and the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation. Anadolu Agency serves as its global media partner.
This year’s edition is hosting delegations from 103 countries, including ministers, defense chiefs, and procurement officials. Forty-four countries are represented with national pavilions, while more than 900 Turkish and 400 international companies are exhibiting their products.
