REPKON unveils 12.7x99 mm heavy machine gun at IDEF 2025

Türkish defense firm REPKON introduced its new 12.7x99 mm heavy machine gun for the first time at the IDEF 2025 International Defense Industry Fair, currently taking place in Istanbul.

The weapon, which falls within the NATO-standard .50 caliber category, was presented as part of the company’s expanded product lineup at the 17th edition of the fair. According to REPKON’s Business Development Specialist Hazal Gülerkaya, the gun can be used in infantry roles as well as integrated into remote weapon stations.

The platform supports both single and automatic firing modes and features a quick-change barrel system. It can be mounted on land, naval, and aerial platforms, or deployed on a tripod for ground-based operations.

Gülerkaya noted that the system is designed for area support missions and can be used to counter low-flying aircraft and helicopters. She also highlighted that the gun is equipped with a Picatinny rail system, allowing for the attachment of mechanical and optical sights simultaneously or as needed.

The decision to develop the weapon, Gülerkaya stated, was based on operational research and existing demand. The prototype was expedited in collaboration with the company’s production facilities to meet the IDEF 2025 deadline.

In addition to the new machine gun, REPKON is showcasing other systems at the fair, including 40 mm automatic rotary grenade launchers and 37–38 mm gas grenade launchers. These products are currently in service with the Turkish Armed Forces and are exported to NATO member states.

REPKON is participating in IDEF 2025 alongside other national and international defense companies. The event, organized under the auspices of Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defense and supported by the Presidency of Defense Industries, serves as a major platform for global defense industry engagement.
