Moscow says 251 drones downed as Kyiv reports 762 strikes

Russia and Ukraine reported extensive air operations overnight, with each side accusing the other of carrying out large-scale strikes across multiple regions.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that its air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 251 Ukrainian drones, including 62 over the Black Sea and five over the Azov Sea. The ministry said attacks were detected across Crimea, Kursk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, and areas near Moscow.

Ukrainian officials, meanwhile, said 762 Russian strikes hit 17 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region within the last 24 hours, leaving one dead and 11 injured.

“The enemy carried out six airstrikes and over 500 drone attacks on civilian areas,” said Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

He added that more than 240 reports of damage to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure were recorded.

In the Chernihiv region, local authorities reported that Russian shelling hit an energy facility overnight, leading to power outages. “At night, the enemy shelled the Ichnyan region,” said regional operator Chernihivoblenergo, confirming damage to an energy site.

In Odessa, regional governor Oleh Kiper said Russian “Shahed” drones struck a civilian industrial facility, causing a fire that was later contained. He noted that no casualties were reported.

Independent verification of the reported incidents remains difficult due to ongoing hostilities.
