MBDA completes acquisition of Safran’s stake in Roxel

On December 19, 2024, MBDA finalized the acquisition of Safran’s 50% stake in Roxel, integrating the Franco-British company as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the European defense group. This strategic move positions MBDA to leverage Roxel’s advanced capabilities amid a period of significant growth and investment in the defense sector.

Despite the acquisition, Roxel will retain its operational independence, continuing to honor existing contracts with other systems suppliers while pursuing new market opportunities, especially in the export sector. The move is expected to accelerate Roxel’s growth, bolstering its status as a global leader in tactical propulsion and a key player in France and the UK.

MBDA CEO Éric Béranger emphasized the importance of collaboration:

“I welcome everyone from Roxel to the MBDA Group. By reinforcing work interactions and cooperation between the teams of the two companies, this transaction aims to support Roxel’s operational and industrial excellence. It also ensures an optimal response to the challenges posed by the current war economy in both development and production.”

Roxel CEO Sylvie Grison highlighted the potential for innovation and operational efficiency:

“This acquisition will enable us to further develop innovation in new solid propulsion technologies. Additionally, it will facilitate optimization of industrial cycles for faster ramp-up. I am therefore very pleased that this share acquisition has been completed.”
