Kongsberg Discovery has finalized an agreement with Argeo’s bankruptcy estate to acquire three of the company’s core technologies: Argeo Whisper, Argeo Listen, and Argeo Scope. The deal includes intellectual property, software, hardware, and a team of specialists who will transfer to Kongsberg Discovery.
Kongsberg Discovery President Martin Wien Fjell said the acquisition broadens the company’s sensor portfolio by adding electromagnetic sensing capabilities.
“The technologies, named Argeo Whisper and Argeo Listen, expand our sensor portfolio with active and passive electromagnetic sensing capabilities, strengthening our ability to detect and interpret complex underwater environments. In addition, the Argeo Scope will enhance our Blue Insight analytics platform, providing a comprehensive solution for automated dataflow and ocean data visualisation,” Fjell stated.
The company plans to integrate the technologies into its Blue Insight system, which provides digital solutions for ocean data management. Executive Vice President Audun Berg of Kongsberg Discovery’s Ocean Technologies division highlighted the benefits of combining Argeo’s assets with existing platforms.
“We are pleased to continue developing and integrating the technology and expertise into Kongsberg Discovery. This will allow us to develop new products and solutions together. We will soon be able to deliver value-added solutions to all Hugin customers and continue to expand our offerings to other platforms, such as ROVs, drones, and towed vehicles,” Berg said.
In addition to the transfer of intellectual property and software, the agreement brings in a team of specialists from Argeo.
“Their experience, knowledge, and competence will advance us significantly, and I look forward to bringing the technology to our customers,” Berg added.
Argeo’s software for automatic collection, processing, and visualization of sensor data will be merged with Blue Insight. According to Berg, the integration will focus on security and seamless compatibility across platforms.
