Kongsberg and LOTN team up for F-16 MRO in Slovakia

Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services (KAMS) and Letecké opravovne Trenčín (LOTN) have signed a teaming agreement to establish Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services for F-16 aircraft at LOTN’s facilities in Slovakia.

The collaboration will offer support for both new and legacy F-16 operators, providing maintenance and logistics services from LOTN’s facility in Trenčín, which has extensive experience and modern infrastructure. The agreement is based on LOTN’s role in the life cycle support of Slovakia’s F-16 Block 70 fleet.

Juraj Laus, Chairman and CEO of LOTN, stated that the partnership with Kongsberg will enhance service capabilities not only for the Slovak Air Force but also for other NATO and allied users. André Jægtvik, President of KAMS, noted that Norway’s transition to the F-35 allowed KAMS to expand its F-16 support offering internationally, building on over 40 years of experience.

KAMS is a Lockheed Martin-approved F-16 Falcon Service Center up to Block 52, while LOTN brings its Block 70 capabilities and skilled workforce. Together, they aim to provide a strategically located F-16 MRO solution for European operators.

LOTN, fully owned by the Slovak Ministry of Defence, operates over 150,000 square feet of hangar, workshop, and office space in Trenčín, including a 2,000-meter runway. KAMS, majority-owned by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and minority-owned by Finland’s Patria, supports Norwegian F-35A maintenance operations.
