Frank Jansens, General Manager of Weapon Systems at John Cockerill Defense, introduced the company’s Cockerill 3030 turret in an exclusive interview with Defensehere.com during FEINDEF 2025. Part of the modular 3000 series, the 3030 is designed to accommodate various calibers including 30, 40, 90, and 105 mm, and has already been deployed on more than a hundred systems worldwide. With a Technical Readiness Level of 9, the system is fully qualified and combat proven.
Among its key features, the Cockerill 3030 includes a high-capacity 255-round ammunition box and a 62-degree barrel elevation that enables counter-UAS engagement. Jansens emphasized the logistical and operational advantages of the 3000 family’s shared design, which uses a common human-machine interface across all turret variants. This allows for streamlined training and maintenance regardless of caliber.
Jansens also emphasized the company’s long-standing partnership with Türkiye’s FNSS. He recalled the successful integration of the Cockerill 3105 turret onto the FNSS Kaplan tracked vehicle, a configuration that has already entered service with a customer in the Far East. He noted that the company is now aiming to integrate the Cockerill 3030 turret onto the FNSS PARS 6x6 wheeled vehicle, describing it as a flexible and combat-proven solution in the 30 mm segment.
Commenting on growing defense investments in Europe, Jansens said John Cockerill Defense is ready to contribute to regional force modernization. With a product portfolio ranging from 25 mm to 120 mm, all mature and in production, the company offers solutions that are adaptable to a wide range of operational needs.
