Indra Group announced a $50 million investment to expand its U.S. operations through a new manufacturing facility in the Kansas City area. The facility, expected to open in early 2026, will create more than 200 jobs over the next three years and strengthen the company’s presence in both civil and military air traffic management markets.
The new site will complement Indra Group USA’s existing 78,000-square-foot facility in Overland Park, Kansas, which has been recognized with the “Made in Kansas” certification by the state’s Department of Commerce. Together, the two locations will operate as an Indra Center of Excellence dedicated to producing communication, navigation, and surveillance systems for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other clients.
The upcoming facility will integrate Industry 4.0 technologies and automated testing processes to enhance efficiency and product quality. It will manufacture advanced radars, ground-to-air radios, and navigation systems critical to the safety of the National Air Space (NAS). Indra plans to produce over 20,000 Park Air radios for the FAA and build cooperative and non-cooperative radar systems.
Indra Group CEO José Vicente de los Mozos said, “With this project, we are successfully advancing our strategic plan to grow in the United States and taking a decisive step to strengthen Indra Group’s position in a highly competitive American market, where we are already among the strongest companies in advanced solutions for civil and military air traffic management. The new facility demonstrates our long-term commitment to industrial and technological development in the United States, to innovation, and to the creation of high-quality jobs.”
Over the past year, Indra has expanded its U.S. footprint through new contracts in air traffic management, defense, and mobility sectors. Its Surface Awareness Initiative (SAI) technology was recently approved by the FAA for surface aircraft monitoring and will be deployed at more than 450 control towers across the country.
Indra also supports the U.S. Air Force and Navy with navigation and surveillance systems. The U.S. Air Force selected Indra’s Man-Portable Tactical Air Navigation (MP-TACAN) systems to replace existing equipment, providing precise navigation data for both military and civilian operations.
