Indra hosts presentation of 17 projects for the Future Air Combat Program

Indra hosted the NGWS Technology Marketplace in Madrid, where 14 Spanish companies, universities, and research centers presented 17 projects developed under the NGWS/FCAS program, which aims to build a next-generation air combat system by 2040.

The showcased projects include cloud computing and AI applications from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and Gradiant; photonics and quantum technologies from Fyla, AG Photonics, the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias, IDBotic, and Quside; and advanced sensor systems developed by Sensia, Beamagine, Anteral, and several universities, including the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Public University of Navarre (UPNA), and Carlos III University of Madrid.

As the national coordinator for the NGWS/FCAS program in Spain, Indra has supported the participation of non-traditional defense actors from the civil sector in this European initiative led jointly by Spain, France, and Germany.

Participants presented their work directly to representatives from the Combined Project Team (CPT), Spain’s DGAM Program Office, and the Directorate General for Strategy and Innovation of the Defense Industry (DIGEID), in a marketplace-style format with individual stands.

The NGWS/FCAS program is developing an integrated system composed of a sixth-generation fighter jet and accompanying drones, all connected via a shared digital network known as the combat cloud. The inclusion of dual-use technologies from the civil sector is intended to accelerate innovation and ensure technological readiness by 2040.

Indra executives and Spanish defense officials also took part in a panel discussion during the event, focusing on the role of civil-sector innovation in shaping future defense capabilities and the broader industrial ecosystem.
