Germany to equip F-35s with Kongsberg's Joint Strike Missiles

Germany has finalized a contract with Norway for the acquisition of Kongsberg's Joint Strike Missile (JSM), intended for integration with its fleet of F-35 combat aircraft. The deal, valued at approximately NOK 6.5 billion (about $600 million), was officially signed following earlier confirmation of Germany’s selection of the missile system.

The agreement was announced by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace on 30 June 2025, marking Germany as the fifth country to adopt the JSM, following Norway, Japan, Australia, and the United States.

The acquisition is part of a government-to-government arrangement between Norway and Germany, with the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA) acting as the formal contracting authority on behalf of Kongsberg.

Kongsberg’s Executive Vice President for Missiles & Space, Øyvind Kolset, noted the growing cooperation between Norwegian and German defense sectors, referencing previous joint programs involving missile systems, submarines, and weapon stations.
