The French Ministry of the Armed Forces has awarded Airbus Defence and Space an eight-year framework contract to train cybersecurity personnel, including military cyber operators, as part of a broader effort to strengthen its cyber defence capabilities.
Under the agreement, Airbus and its co-contractor Neverhack will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and operating advanced cyber training platforms. The scope includes hands-on training, coaching services, and the design of operational scenarios to simulate real-world cyber threats. A dedicated training centre will be established at the Cyber Defence Academy of COMCYBER in the Rennes region.
The initiative aims to prepare military personnel across a range of cyber roles and increase the overall number of cybersecurity specialists within the Ministry. Training modules will cover a wide array of cyber threats, from malware and denial-of-service attacks to information manipulation and social media influence operations. Simulated environments will replicate the Ministry’s digital infrastructure, including C4ISR and weapons systems.
Airbus is expected to collaborate with start-ups and small enterprises, particularly in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, to adapt training content to evolving threats. The company’s CyberRange platform has been in use for nearly a decade across public and private sectors and will continue to serve as the foundation for this new program.
