FNSS, one of Türkiye's armored land vehicle manufacturers, shared a video about KAPLAN MT on its social media accounts today.

"FNSS's KAPLAN MT medium weight class tank is a unique example that responds to the evolving needs of modern warfare. With its unique design, the KAPLAN MT has the lowest silhouette and highest power-to-weight ratio in its class. Designed for optimum weight and mobility, this platform's state-of-the-art power pack is combined with advanced electronic control systems, an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) and a powerful suspension system. These characteristics allow the tank to ensure reliability and continuous power transmission during reconnaissance maneuvers on the battlefield for day and night operations. In addition, the advanced mobility of the KAPLAN MT increases the user experience ergonomically and extends the service life of all task equipment."
The vehicle's design architecture with advanced ballistic and mine protection systems allows for a wide variety of firepower, ranging from close fire support for infantry units to armor-piercing ammunition against larger targets. The precision direct fire capability provides the vehicle with superior tactical and strategic mobility, as well as the striking power it needs.
KAPLAN MT Medium TankIn 2015, with a cooperation agreement signed between the Indonesian DG Defense Potential and the Presidency of Defense Industries, it was decided to develop 2 prototype medium tanks.
FNSS successfully completed the rigorous endurance and firing tests conducted in Indonesia after prototype development studies.
At the end of 2019, FNSS signed a joint production contract for a total of 18 vehicles.
In 2020, the design perfection studies carried out with the participation of the end user were completed.
In 2021, the production and procurement of parts and systems to be provided by PT Pindad for vehicles to be produced in Indonesia were completed, and these parts and subsystems were exported to Indonesia as vehicle kits and delivered to PT Pindad, FNSS's partner.
As of the beginning of 2022, FNSS has completed its project activities in Türkiye and made the vehicles produced in Türkiye ready.
KAPLAN MT is currently in service with the Indonesian Army and is Türkiye's only export contract in the Combat Tank Class.
