FNSS presents hybrid powerpack project in Germany

e-motor.tech Summit in Berlin, an event organized by we.connect and focused on the electrification of vehicle systems across industries.

The summit brought together leading manufacturers, researchers, and technology developers from around the world, providing FNSS with an opportunity to share its approach to hybrid and electric propulsion systems for land platforms.

The Hybrid Powerpack Development Project aims to integrate traditional internal combustion engines with electric motors to improve performance, operational flexibility, and energy efficiency in armored vehicles. The project also seeks to enhance silent mobility, reduce fuel consumption, and minimize environmental impact — features increasingly demanded in modern combat environments.

FNSS highlights that hybrid systems also provide extended energy storage capabilities, enabling continuous operation of onboard electronics and ensuring sustained mission endurance on the battlefield.

As part of this effort, FNSS has developed and prepared for deployment a hybrid power system designed for 20-ton-class armored vehicles, including the KAPLAN Hybrid configuration. The company intends to adapt this solution across its tracked vehicle family, including both existing platforms undergoing modernization and future vehicle designs.

By combining its expertise in land systems with advanced hybrid technologies, FNSS aims to contribute to the ongoing electrification of the defense industry and the transition toward more energy efficient combat vehicles.
