Ukrainian drone leader Athlon Avia showcased tactical UAVs at MSPO

Ukraine's oldest drone manufacturer, Athlon Avia, a member of NAUDI (the National Association of Ukrainian Defense Industries) made its debut at the MSPO 2024 exhibition in Poland, presenting its advanced unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to the international defense industry. The company, a leader in Ukraine’s unmanned systems sector, highlighted key products such as the A1-CM Furia and the loitering munition system ST-35 Silent Thunder.

Speaking to defensehere.com, Gennadiy Miasnykov, Chief Commercial Officer of Athlon Avia, provided insights into the company’s latest innovations and their applications in tactical military missions.

Athlon Avia’s A1-CM Furia, a UAS adopted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2020, has proven its capabilities in aerial reconnaissance and artillery fire adjustment. With over 100 systems delivered to Ukrainian forces, the Furia system offers long flight endurance, a tactical range of up to 50 kilometers, and versatile payload options for day and night operations.

The ST-35 Silent Thunder, a loitering munition UAS, was another highlight. Designed for precision strikes in urban environments, the system is capable of minimizing collateral damage while delivering powerful attacks on critical targets. Its portability and versatility make it a crucial tool for modern warfare.

Athlon Avia continues to expand its offerings with the upgraded Furia 2, demonstrating the company’s commitment to innovation and battlefield efficiency.

The Furia A2-S UAV, an upgraded version of Athlon Avia’s original Furia model, boasts significant advancements in both performance and design. With a flight duration of nearly six hours—double that of its predecessor—the A2-S also features a larger internal volume, allowing for the integration of modern GPS receivers, computers, and various payloads. This increased capacity provides flexibility for future enhancements, positioning the Furia A2-S as a foundational platform for the next decade of technological improvements. The updated UAV is built to evolve with advancing military needs.
