Ukraine’s 1st Turkish-built corvette undergoes sea trials

Hetman Ivan Mazepa (F-211), Ukraine's first Ada-class corvette built by Türkiye’s STM, is currently undergoing sea acceptance tests, the company said in a recent press release.

The corvette, constructed under a military cooperation agreement signed between Türkiye and Ukraine on Oct. 16, 2020 that includes provisions for the construction of warships, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and turbine engines.

As part of this agreement, Türkiye is tasked with constructing four corvettes for Ukraine under Türkiye’s MILGEM (National Ship) project.

Launched in Istanbul on Oct. 2, 2022, the F-211 is the inaugural corvette of this initiative and is anticipated to officially join the Ukrainian Navy's fleet later this year.
