Ukraine and Netherlands strengthen military cooperation amid ongoing conflict

Ukraine and the Netherlands’ defense ministers agreed Sunday to strengthen military cooperation, focusing on crew training and the supply of weapons for newly delivered F-16 fighter jets.

Ukrainian minister Rustem Umerov said the meeting marked a significant step in enhancing collaboration within the aviation coalition, including agreements on training and providing necessary spare parts for the aircraft.

He expressed gratitude for the Netherlands' comprehensive support, adding that the arrival of the F-16s reflects the steadfast backing of the Dutch people and government.

This meeting coincided with the delivery of the first batch of F-16s from the Netherlands to Ukraine.

Dutch defense chief Ruben Brekelmans confirmed that the first batch of Dutch F-16 jets had been delivered to Ukraine, emphasizing the urgency of bolstering Ukraine’s defenses against Russian airstrikes.

He noted that the remaining 24 jets will arrive in the coming months.

Brekelmans also announced a €400 million ($438 million) Drone Action Plan during his visit to Ukraine, aimed at supplying advanced drones for reconnaissance, defense, and attack.
