Türkiye provided military training for Gambia, which is preparing to host the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit in early May.
A total of 351 Gambian soldiers attended special training in various areas in the capital Banjul from April 7-28, including in VIP protection.
Türkiye's Ambassador to Gambia Fahri Turker Oba, Gambian Defense Minister Sering Modou Njie, Gambian Chief of Defense Staff Mamat Cham and many soldiers attended the closing ceremony of the training.
During the ceremony, Oba said the training will benefit Gambian security forces both during and after the summit.
Nije thanked Türkiye for its support and said the country is a reliable development partner of Gambia.
Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Banjul posted in its X account with the following statement of the Turkish ambassador to Gambia Fahri Türker Oba:
"Participated in the closing ceremony for the comprehensive training provided to the Gambian Armed Forces by the Turkish Armed Forces Mobile Training Team. I had the occasion to see their contribution. I am proud of them. Thank you."
