Türkiye-based global land systems manufacturer Otokar showcased seven vehicles and turret systems at the recent Eurosatory fair in Paris, including two new products, according to a company official.
Zafer Uysal, Otokar's System Engineering Director, presented the vehicles to DefenseHere during an interview.
Among the new offerings is ALPAR, an unmanned ground vehicle platform, and Arma II, the latest addition to the ARMA product family—a new 8x8 vehicle.
ALPAR, designed by Otokar Engineering, serves as an unmanned ground platform capable of executing missions alongside both unmanned and manned vehicles on the battlefield.
Utilizing advanced AI and autonomous systems, ALPAR aims to minimize risks for personnel in combat scenarios.
The vehicle boasts a gross weight of 15 tons and features a serial hybrid power pack generating 160 kilowatts of continuous power and up to 440 kilowatts at peak performance.
Otokar has also developed a bespoke battery pack for ALPAR, each storing 69 kilowatt-hours of energy. The vehicle can accommodate up to four battery packs, though the current configuration utilizes two. This setup allows for 50 km of silent operation and up to 500 km in range under normal operating conditions, leveraging a generator integrated into the vehicle.
ALPAR, with its modular design, can be customized into various configurations such as a fire support, logistics, air defense, or anti-tank vehicle to meet specific customer requirements.
Another highlight was Arma II, the newest addition to the Arma family of vehicles, boasting a robust 40-ton gross vehicle weight. This vehicle class enables higher payload capacity, enhanced protection, and the adaptation of larger caliber weapon systems.
During the exhibition, Otokar showcased Arma II equipped with a 105mm turret, with options for integrating 120mm weapon stations. Notably, Arma II offers best-in-class ballistic and mine protection without compromising mobility, ensuring high power, mobility, protection, and firepower capabilities.
The platform's versatility allows it to be configured for various missions, including recovery, armored fighting, ambulance, and air defense roles, tailored to customer needs.
Also featured was Tulpar, Otokar's multipurpose tracked vehicle platform, ranging from 28 to 45 tons. This year, Otokar presented Tulpar equipped with the Leonardo 120mm turret for the first time at Eurosatory.
Tulpar is distinguished by its exceptional mobility and high levels of protection, making it suitable for deploying heavy weapon systems like the Leonardo turret. It can be configured for diverse missions ranging from armored fighting and medium tank roles to recovery and ambulance duties.
