Turkish Ambassador to Kuala Lumpur Emir Salim Yüksel spoke to Defensehere.com on the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition LIMA 2023.
In the interview, Ambassador Yüksel, who assessed the Turkish defense industry's participation in the exhibition, said:
"I think there's a very great interest from the international and the bilateral attendance from Malaysia and from the other countries here. Türkiye is represented by eighteen companies, plus our defense agency booth in Lima. Lima is one of the most important defense exhibitions in the region, together with DSA, which is happening in Kuala Lumpur, actually. Next year, there will be another DSA. I think our companies are well represented in all different sectors, in the maritime, in the land, of course in the air sector. We are very happy that finally we have signed the contract between Malaysia and TAI for the procurement of three pieces, three drones, ANKA drones to Malaysia. I hope that they will be delivered according to the schedule very soon."
Regarding Malaysia-Türkiye cooperation, Ambassador Yüksel said: "We are saying always to our Malaysian counterparts is that Malaysia is not a market for us. We are partners. We would like to see them work together. We would like to see them work with us, as much as possible, as close as possible in order to make joint production, joint projects and in different sectors. I think in the future, we might see some new developments in that sector."
