Luciano Macaferri Rodrigues, General Director of Thales Brazil, spoke to Defensehere about Thales Group as well as the company's solutions in different areas.

Established in 2000, Thales is a global technology company with more than 77,000 employees on five continents. The Group is investing in digital and “deep tech” innovations – Big Data, artificial intelligence, connectivity, cybersecurity and quantum technology.

Thales's country director Luciano Macaferri Rodrigues spoke to Defensehere.com about the group and said:

"Thales is a multinational group based in France. We basically compete in three main scenarios in three main market; defense and security, digital identity in security and aerospace. Worldwide we are around 80,000 people based in 68 countries.

We can say that Thales is presenting our life much more than what we imagine. Two out of three airplanes in the worlds takeoff and landing, using Thales system. This is a reality also in the drones. We are very much present in the air traffic control with radar or with center or with navigational aid. Now, we see that the market is going more and more for the drones.

We do have systems for UATM, which is a main in the aircraft traffic management. We launched radar called gamekeeper that will be produced in Brazil. This radar is it's holographic radar focus mainly on drones control. The idea is that this radar will be based in the airport runways to see to check the possibility of having drones are not during takeoff and landings off airplanes in airports.

We have a many new products coming in cybersecurity. In cybersecurity, we have been putting a lot of efforts. We do have a very wide portfolio of products from the perimeter protection, or data protection or we do have of many products. I would say that cybersecurity are coming very strong.

We also partner with other companies seem to promote avionics. We do have a lot of things is ongoing with a lot of innovation. So Thales invest more than €1 billion from its own budgets on R&D. It's a big number. That's bringing us enough innovation to showcase and to share with our customers."
