Baykar Technology announced that the Bayraktar KALKAN VTOL UAV (Vertical Take-off and Landing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) has successfully completed the system identification tests performed during its 30th flight.
30th flight test
System identification tests were successfully carried out during the flight performed at Baykar Flight Training and Test Center in Keşan, Edirne. Bayraktar KALKAN DİHA, which can carry out activities for reconnaissance and intelligence missions, reached an altitude of 14,500 feet within the scope of the test and left behind 70 hours of successful flight time.
BAYKAR FLEW WITH BG-160 CAMERA
Bayraktar KALKAN DİHA, which can perform automatic route tracking, target tracking, circling and returning to base modes, performed its flight test with the Baykar BG-160 camera, which was completely indigenously and indigenously developed by Baykar. Thanks to the Baykar BG-160 Electro-Optical System, which has thermal imaging capability, Bayraktar KALKAN UAV can also take high-resolution images at night. This domestically produced VTOL UAV can successfully perform day and night reconnaissance, surveillance and target detection missions.
NO NEED FOR A RUNWAY
Powered by four electric motors and one low-consumption gasoline engine, Bayraktar KALKAN DİHA takes off vertically with its electric motors, then switches to cruise flight mode and navigates only with its gasoline engine. With these engines, Bayraktar KALKAN DİHA can reach an altitude of over 14,500 feet and can perform mission flights for more than 7 hours. The national UAV, which can take off and land vertically, can easily perform mission flights in base areas and floating platforms without the need for any runway.
LEADER IN EXPORTS
Baykar, which has been carrying out all its projects with its own resources since its inception, has generated 83% of all its revenues from exports since the beginning of the UAV R&D process in 2003. In 2021 and 2022, Baykar became the export leader of the defense and aerospace sector according to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM). Baykar, which was announced by the Turkish Defense Industry Agency as the export champion of the sector in 2023, exported 1.8 billion dollars worth of products last year. Baykar, which has generated more than 90% of its revenues from exports in recent years, accounted for one third of the exports in the defence and aerospace sector in 2023. Export agreements have been signed with 33 countries for the Bayraktar TB2 UCAV and 9 countries for the Bayraktar AKINCI UCAV so far, for a total of 34 countries.
