Safran was among the exhibitors at the Association of the U.S. Army’s (AUSA) Annual Meeting & Exhibition, held in Washington, DC from October 9 through 11.
During this key gathering, Safran showcased a wide range of innovations designed to help military forces solve the most complex challenges on the battlefield. Safran’s booth featured the latest innovations from Safran Optics 1, Safran Data Systems, Inc, Safran Sensing Technologies, Safran Trusted 4D (formerly Orolia), and Safran Federal Systems (Orolia Defense & Security).
Electro-optic and navigation products
During this annual meeting, Optics 1 exhibited its complete range of high-performance electro-optic and navigation systems. Optics 1 has a long history of supporting the Department of Defense and recently announced an expansion of its Bedford, New Hampshire facility to support its growing business.
Among the highlights of this year was Optics 1’s latest device called TAD (Thermal Augmentation Device) – which easily attaches to existing Night Vision Devices (NVDs) to increase threat detection and situational awareness.
Also on display was the High-Resolution Thermal Viewer (HRTV), a lightweight, multifunctional, long-range binocular system that provides operators with superior situational awareness and advanced connectivity in the field.
Presented for the first time during AUSA was NAVKITE, a compact, hybrid navigation system allowing special forces to operate in an increasingly complex and uncertain environment. The system’s capabilities combine the GEONYX™ inertial navigation system with the VersaSync® time/frequency platform.
Resilient Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) solutions
Safran Trusted 4D — a company recognized globally for its Resilient Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) and related activities, technologies and equipment — had a strong presence at AUSA. The company's solutions improve the reliability, performance and safety of critical, remote and high-risk operations, even in GPS/GNSS denied environments. One of the products highlighted by Safran Trusted 4D was VersaSync.
Safran Federal Systems provides Resilient PNT solutions and custom engineering services to U.S. government agencies, defense organizations and their contractors. Products displayed by this company included VersaPNT, an all-in-one Positioning, Navigation and Timing Device; BroadSim Solo, a single-output software-defined GNSS simulator; and CPNT, a CMOSS PNT card.
Data systems and sensing technologies
With the presence of Safran Data Systems, visitors discovered a range of solutions to meet their flight test instrumentation and operational mission systems needs.
AUSA was also an opportunity to highlight a range of gyro modules, accelerometers, and inertial measurement units (IMU) from Safran Sensing Technologies.
Supporting military veterans
Reinforcing its commitment to honoring military veterans, Optics 1 used AUSA as a platform to raise awareness for House in the Woods and Travis Mills Foundation.
