The Su-34 is designed to strike ground, surface, and airborne targets at long ranges, including infrastructure protected by air defence systems. It is capable of operating under enemy fire and electronic warfare conditions, both day and night, in varying weather. The platform can also conduct aerial reconnaissance missions.

Rostec Executive Director Oleg Yevtushenko said production rates have been increased to ensure regular deliveries to the armed forces. Additional batches of other aircraft types are also being prepared for handover.
