According to a request from the Ministry of National Defense to Romanian parliament, the Romanian Air Force will purchase 32 F-16 fighter jets from Norway.
The total price of the acquisition is 454 million euros ($514 million). 354 million euros is for the aircraft from Norway and 100 million euros is for the logistic support and necessary modernization from the U.S.
In order to continue the gradual supply of F-16 aircraft from the surplus of the NATO member states, letters of inquiry were sent to Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Portugal and Greece. As a result of the analysis from the responses received to the requests for information the Government of Norway was identified as a supplier for the acquisition.
