Dominique Moisi, NEXTER's UAE general delegate spoke to defensehere.com about the company, its presence and cooperation within the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
NEXTER and International Golden Group had signed an agreement for the life extension program of the Leclerc main battle tank during the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2023) in Abu Dhabi.
Mr. Moisi underlined "the key point of this exhibition for us is the signature of an agreement between the NEXTER and International Golden Group, which is our partner for the life extension program of the Leclerc main battle tank. So we expect this program to start within a year typically, and this will be a very important program for the country, UAE, but also for France."
Nexter also displayed its latest reconnaissance and combat vehicle, the Jaguar, for the first time outside of France showing the importance of the Gulf market for NEXTER.
"So I'm Dominique Moisi. I'm the UAE general delegate of NEXTER in Abu Dhabi. So I'm working here for more than 12 years. I used to be the French Military attaché here in the French embassy in UAE. And I'm running the development of NEXTER systems’ business since 2017, here in the country.
So NEXTER systems originated from the very important contracts signed in 1993 between UAE armed forces and GIAT, which which is the the previous company we are coming from. Today, we have a footprint of more than 60 people working here supporting the UAE armed forces for the support of the tank for ammunition businesses, but also developing key partnerships for the development of test and qualification capabilities for Tawazun, which will become here in this country a very important player and is currently an important player.
So the key point of this exhibition for us is the signature of an agreement between the NEXTER and International Golden Group, which is our partner for the life extension program of the Leclerc main battle tank. So we expect this program to start within a year typically, and this will be a very important program for the country, UAE, but also for France.
As you know, there is a huge cooperation between France and UAE, and the Leclerc is part of this strategic relationship. We have introduced for the first time in the region, in the Gulf region, and even outside France, the Jaguar, which is our latest recce and combat vehicle. So we have displayed it on the booth of our partner resource industries, which is an emerging company in Abu Dhabi.
We are supporting for manufacturing of our wide range of vehicles. So including the TITUS and also the Jaguar."
