Today Navantia commemorates the 10th anniversary of its first contract for the maintenance of U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers, forward deployed to Rota, Spain. The destroyers are significant assets for the U.S. Navy, directly support NATO’s Integrated Air Missile Defense, and have the flexibility to operate throughout the waters of Europe and Africa, from the Cape of Good Hope to the Arctic Circle, demonstrating their mastery of the maritime domain.
This event marks ten years of joint work between the U.S. Navy and Navantia with the support of the Spanish Navy. Throughout the last decade, the maintenance and modernization needs for the ships have grown in scope, complexity and specialization. Navantia achieved 100% effectiveness in the fulfillment of each and every one of the customer’s orders, with its work being recognized as excellent by the U.S. Navy.
The set of skills acquired in these ten years, both for the ships’ required maintenance cycles and in the development of solutions in this field in locations outside Navantia’s main work centers, has grown the core capabilities of Navantia’s Services Business.
This important milestone underscores the competency and efficiency of Navantia Services to successfully execute required maintenance cycles for naval platforms on time and on budget.
