Malaysian Minister of Defense Dato Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin and an accompanying delegation have paid a visit to Turkish defense giant ASELSAN.
Nordin met with Ahmet Akyol, General Manager of ASELSAN, and received information about the products.
Akyol shared a statement regarding the visit on his social media account.
“We were honored to host the Malaysian Minister of Defense, Dato Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin and the accompanying delegation at ASELSAN. We wish the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Malaysia and our Presidency of Defense Industries and the duties to be carried out by ASELSAN within this scope to be beneficial to both countries. We will continue to support our strengthening cooperation with our national engineering power,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
During his official visit to Türkiye, the Malaysian minister toured several key institutions, including the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), the National Defense Ministry (MSB), Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ), and Mechanical and Chemical Industry Cooperation (MKE). Additionally, a strategic cooperation agreement was forged between TUSAŞ and Malaysia’s AIROD Aerospace Technology, focusing on advancements in aviation.
The highlight of the visit came during a ceremony at the SSB on Monday, where the 'Memorandum of Understanding on Government-to-Government Procurement of Defense Products' was signed between Türkiye and Malaysia. As part of this agreement, Turkish defense firm STM will undertake the construction of three corvettes for the Malaysian Navy.
