Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace (KONGSBERG) has signed a contract with the Ministry of National Defense in the Republic of Lithuania for the delivery of more NASAMS air defense systems, according to a press release.
The EUR 193 million contract will provide Lithuania with the latest technology and increased air defense capabilities.
As part of the contract, Lithuania will also upgrade parts of the NASAMS equipment the country acquired in 2017. The acquisition follows the orders placed in December 2023 to increase the number of NASAMS fire units providing Lithuania with the most modern and advanced air defense system.

The NASAMS system is an important defense capacity given the geopolitical situation in the world. The contract with Lithuania also strengthens the country's partnership with NATO.”
Previously, Lithuania’s Ministry of Defense has purchased NASAMS missile launchers for donation to Ukraine, where the system has contributed to the protection of people and critical infrastructure.
NASAMS' modularity and open architecture enable the continuous introduction of new technology, which ensures that the system can adapt to new threats and missions throughout its lifetime. NASAMS is the market's most flexible solution covering a wide range of air defense missions and growth potential for long range air defense and anti-tactical ballistic missiles as part of the NASAMS architecture.
With this procurement Lithuania further strengthens its commitment to the NASAMS community, currently consisting of 13 nations.
