Indra’s new NH90 Helicopter Simulator to train Spanish Pilots

Indra has installed an advanced NH90 helicopter simulator at the Cuatro Vientos Air and Space Force base in Spain, marking the third such system delivered to the Spanish Armed Forces. The new simulator offers a high level of realism, significantly enhancing pilot training by replicating real operational scenarios.

This simulator is designed to expedite pilot training by covering up to 40% of the required training hours. It also improves mission safety and efficiency while reducing operational costs, extending aircraft lifespan, and minimizing environmental impact.

Indra’s NH90 simulators are known for their ability to integrate with other training systems, providing opportunities for joint training exercises. This is made possible through the use of HLA architecture standards, which allow for seamless connectivity with other simulators, including those located at the Army’s Helicopter Simulation Center in La Rioja.

Equipped with the latest avionics, the simulator closely mimics the actual cockpit of the NH90 helicopter. Pilots can train using mission-specific equipment, such as helmets with night vision. The system also features an upgraded visual system, offering highly accurate scenario simulations, including maritime rescue operations, disaster response, and complex international mission preparations.

This simulator will be evaluated according to European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards, ensuring that it meets the highest level of accuracy, equivalent to an FFS Level D simulator. The system also enables pilots to practice emergency situations and high-risk maneuvers, contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of missions.

Indra, has delivered over 200 simulators to more than 50 customers across 23 countries. This delivery reinforces its position as a key provider of NH90 simulation systems, a platform used by numerous armed forces worldwide. The simulator also reduces training costs, cuts maintenance by more than 33%, and prevents CO2 emissions.
