Hanwha and Northrop Grumman partner to develop air defense systems

South Korea’s Hanwha Systems has signed an MoU with U.S. defense company Northrop Grumman to jointly develop next-generation integrated air defense systems.

The collaboration aims to combine Northrop Grumman’s Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) with Hanwha’s advanced command and control technologies to address modern threats such as ballistic missiles, drones, and long-range artillery.

Northrop’s IBCS connects sensors and effectors across domains to identify the most effective interceptors in real time. It is already in deployment across the U.S. and parts of Europe.

Hanwha brings its experience with Korea’s indigenous air defense systems, including KAMDOC, MCRC, and C2A platforms, and multifunction radar technologies used in LAMD, M-SAM-II, and L-SAM systems.
